Grown Up Avenger Stuff

A quick description of the sound of Grown Up Avenger Stuff could be “Hard Indie Rock” – perhaps Queens of the Stone Age mixed with Yeah Yeah Yeahs. What’s so special about the music? It has, even in the darkest and most intense moments, an embedded smile – a wish that the sound touches your heart in a way that makes you feel happy to be alive and good about who you are. In the meantime, the music is purely designed to get your heart pumping, your feet dancing, and spark a musical love affair with the band for life.

Related by blood and a profound sonic connection, and perhaps unique enough to be the only band of it’s type, Grown Up Avenger Stuff combines a deep love for music with a natural talent for building songs that connect with the heart and yet are just plain fun to enjoy.

Formed in 2009 in Charlotte, NC, the band, through an approach of uncompromising high energy live shows and unapologetically growing their fan base, has been building popularity and ever reaching toward their goal of “saving the world one song at a time.”

Their first single for London Tone and the 52x52 launch campaign is called You Never Know, and features the pitch-perfect singing of Deirdre Kroener, who brings both a soft & pretty and power vocal performance to drive the band’s unique sound. Deirdre, who also wrote the lyrics, says You Never Know started out being about how fragile we all are as people. In the end, she adds, “it also speaks to how much damage we can inflict to cover our vulnerability. We are often victims and perpetrators at the same time in human relationships.”

When asked how the experience was flying across the country to work in Seattle’s London Bridge Studio, where so many of their musical heroes had recorded their classic albums, guitarist John Thomsen couldn’t have been more effusive saying, “The recording experience was phenomenal. The studio sounds and feels amazing. Producer-engineer, Jonathan Plum, recorded us as the live rock band that we are and the results are something we’ve never been able to capture before.”
